Best AI for Roblox Studio in 2026: Assistant, Claude Code, Codex and More
Updated October 2026 · 4 min read
There are two ways to use AI in Roblox Studio right now: Roblox Assistant, which is built in, and your own AI tool connected through Studio's MCP server. They're not rivals. Plenty of creators use both.
Option 1: Roblox Assistant
Assistant lives inside Studio. You open it, type what you want, and it can write scripts, build things and answer questions about Roblox's APIs.
Good for: quick help, small scripts, learning how something works, no setup.
Option 2: Your own AI through MCP
Studio can run as an MCP server, an open standard that lets outside AI tools work inside your open Studio window. You turn it on in Assistant → Manage MCP Servers, and AI coding tools that speak MCP can connect: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor and others. Setup is in our Claude Code guide and Roblox's MCP docs.
Once connected, the AI can read and edit scripts, search your game tree, run Luau, insert assets, start a playtest and read the output.
Good for: bigger jobs across many scripts, long build sessions, and using an AI subscription you already pay for.
How to choose
- Just starting, small game: try Assistant first. It's already there.
- Already pay for Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: connect it through MCP. Coding agents like Claude Code and Codex are built for long, multi-step work.
The AI isn't the bottleneck
Any of these can build. What decides whether the game gets played is the idea, the first minute, progression and launch, and no AI picks those for you.
Where Larpings fits
Larpings is an app that connects the AI you already pay for (Claude Code, Codex or Antigravity) to Roblox Studio, Blender and an Obsidian notes vault, with a guided plan → build → playtest workflow and a course on picking ideas and getting players. It runs on top of Studio's official MCP server. See Larpings.
