How to Get Players on Your Roblox Game

Updated October 2026 · 7 min read

"My game is good but nobody plays it" almost always comes down to one of three things: nobody clicks it, people leave in the first minute, or they don't come back. Roblox's home recommendations reward games that win at all three.

How home recommendations work (roughly)

  • A brand-new game has no data, so Roblox can't place it. You need some traffic first, usually from Roblox's sponsored ads or short videos.
  • Roblox watches how those first players behave and compares your game to others, eventually to games your players also play.
  • Games with better stats get more home-page impressions. Ads alone don't buy you a spot on the home page; better stats do.

You can see the comparison in the Creator Dashboard: Analytics → Acquisition → Home recommendations, benchmarked against similar experiences. That page tells you exactly where you're losing.

Fix the click: title and thumbnail

Title:

  • Write it for a 3rd grader. "Hack a Business" beats "Sell Your Data".
  • Make the fantasy and the challenge obvious: *Escape the ___*, *Survive ___*, *Steal a ___*.
  • Don't copy an existing big game's title.

Thumbnails: see Roblox thumbnail size and tips. Make several and test them; a bigger set gives you a better chance of a winner.

Fix the first minute

If people click but leave fast, the first 60 seconds don't match what the thumbnail promised, or they're confused. Show the promise right away, teach one thing at a time, and remove every unnecessary tap.

Fix the comeback

  • Day 1: onboarding and no "stuck with nothing to do" moment in the first 15 minutes
  • Day 7: enough content, a weekly event, things to show off
  • Day 28: long goals: collections, rare items, something you build up over time

Multiplayer helps everything. A game that's more fun with friends spreads by itself.

A simple launch plan

  1. Launch once the core loop is fun. Don't wait months.
  2. Run a small ad campaign for 1–2 weeks with all your thumbnails in it.
  3. Patch every day while ads run, based on feedback and stats.
  4. After about two weeks, look at home recommendation impressions:

- None: move on to the next idea. - Some, but flat: ship one big update aimed at your worst stat, then try again. - Growing fast: keep updating weekly and let the home page take over.

  1. Make it clippable. Moments YouTubers would put in a video are free marketing.
