Roblox Game Ideas That Blow Up: How to Find Them Before Everyone Else

Updated October 2026 · 7 min read

Lists of "100 Roblox game ideas" don't help, because an idea isn't the hard part. The hard part is knowing which ideas people already want. Here's how to find them.

Look for demand signals

A demand signal is a number that proves people care about a game loop: sales, wishlists, plays, views, downloads, comments. One signal is a hint. Two or three is a green light.

Good places to look:

  • Steam: popular or heavily wishlisted games, especially ones kids watch YouTubers play but can't buy
  • Browser game sites (CrazyGames, Coolmath, Newgrounds): high play counts and old gameplay videos with big views
  • Console and mobile hits: take an adult game and simplify it until a 9-year-old gets it in 10 seconds
  • TikTok challenges: things kids want to do with friends but can't in real life
  • Minecraft and Garry's Mod minigames: classics that never got a great Roblox version

The best sign of all: comments like *"where can I play this?"* under a video. That's demand with nobody serving it.

Catch Roblox games on the way up

Copying whatever is #1 right now is the worst move. By the time you ship, the market is full of clones. Instead, look for small games that are rising:

  1. Lots of players right now compared to their total visits
  2. Made recently
  3. Easy to build (obby, tower, simulator, tycoon, minigame)
  4. Still climbing, not already peaked
  5. Bonus: the dev isn't updating and the comments are full of bug reports

Then play it properly, for an hour or two, and write down the loop, what brings you back, what they sell and what's broken. That list is your design brief.

Pick the right kind of market

  • Blue ocean: nobody's doing it. Risky, because maybe nobody wants it.
  • Red ocean: dozens of near-identical clones with the same title and thumbnail. Hard to get clicks, and Roblox recommends close copies less.
  • Purple ocean: lots of demand but old, buggy or all-the-same games. This is the sweet spot.

To check, search the theme on Roblox and see how many games have lots of visits, how old they are, and whether they're all the same genre. If every airport game is a roleplay game, an airport *action* game is a gap.

Make the idea clickable

A good Roblox idea is a fantasy a kid would daydream about: what if a hospital was run by animals? What if you could raise a monster? If you can't say it in one exciting sentence, it isn't clear yet.

Quick checklist before you build

  • At least 2 demand signals with real numbers
  • A fantasy you can say in one sentence
  • A gap: old, buggy or samey competition
  • Mechanics players already understand
  • Small enough to build a first version in 1–3 weeks
